Kansas City Museum Sessions

The Kansas City Museum Sessions were established in cooperation with Anna Marie Tutera, Executive Director of The Museum of Kansas City. Creative City KC is a partner of the Kansas City Museum.

The Kansas City Museum Sessions were developed during the renovation of the museum’s Corinthian Hall, when the museum was still under construction and closed to the public. Our first museum session was performed and recorded in September 2019 and features several musicians who traveled to Mexico as part of Kansas City’s first UNESCO Creative Cities Network cultural exchange.

To view and listen to the Museum Sessions – please visit the museum’s page on YouTube.

Following the emergence of the COVID19 pandemic, the Museum Sessions became a way to promote Kansas City musicians during the public health restrictions on public gatherings and live musical performances.

In August 2020, the Museum Sessions featured an all female trio of jazz musicians to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the birth of Charlie Parker, Jr.  Led by saxophonist Aryana Nemati – the group included Jackie Myers on keyboard,  and Carly Atwood, bass.

Additional videos have featured guest musicians from UNESCO Creative Cities – including Dani Conejo and Martina Venegas from Frutillar, Chile. Our most recent production features band leader Benjamin Sanz of Paris, France.

Each video has been recorded and produced by Miles Brown and Kyle Crouse of Kansas City.
