Strategy

This strategy seeks to raise awareness about UNESCO in Kansas City, to build the Music Economy of our City and region – and to advance Sustainable Urban Development through Culture and Creativity. This work is accomplished through partnerships with the City and local stakeholders.

GOAL #1: CREATE BRAND AWARENESS
Build Awareness of Kansas City’s Unique Designation as the United States' first UNESCO Creative City of Music.
GOAL #2: ENHANCE MUSIC EDUCATION
Promote opportunities for Music Education across the life cycle, including Professional Development in Music and the Creative Industries.
GOAL #3: DEVELOP KANSAS CITY’S MUSIC INFRASTRUCTURE
Develop the Infrastructure to support the growth of Kansas City’s Music Economy, stabilize and grow income and jobs in the music sector.
GOAL #4: PRESERVE KANSAS CITY’S MUSIC HERITAGE
Promote awareness and appreciation of the Kansas City Sound – from the historical roots of the music in the genres of gospel, ragtime and blues – to the modern music of the 20th century and beyond.
